KEVIN, OWNER OF BRANDFOCUS MEDIA:
ChatGPT is taking over for Google. More and more people everyday are asking it for business recommendations. And it's handing them out. But some businesses are not going to be recommended, and some that are never going to close a sale from those recommendations. If you don't know where you stand, don't worry. It doesn't have to be that way.
You've heard of ChatGPT. Maybe you've even used it to help you write an email, plan a trip, whatever. And Google's been around forever. But recently, something changed. And it's shifted the way people find businesses online in a huge way.
Here's how Google works. It looks at web pages, looks at the links, and ranks everything in an order. It makes a list of places based on what Google thinks is most important. It looks at keywords and backlinks and who's paying for ads. It's almost like the Yellow Pages.
If you're not old enough to know what that is, the Yellow Pages was a big book of business listings in alphabetical order.
So when people did a Google search, they would have to decide which businesses they called, usually based on which one was closer to them, or maybe one that had more reviews than the other one. There wasn't a lot of discerning one from the other. You kind of had to do that yourself. But here's how ChatGPT is different. It actually tries to understand YOU... what your question is, what your needs are, what kind of businesses would best help you.
And then it also tries to understand the businesses as well, not by how many links they have or how high they rank on some list, but by what the business says about itself and whether or not it actually has credibility. That's the great thing about AI. It can figure this stuff out. And the old Google search couldn't.
So Google's pretty much like the Yellow Pages, where ChatGPT is more like your friend at lunch who knows about you, knows about the businesses, and tries to make a referral based on both.
So if you're a business owner, this could be huge. The most popular AI chat bot in the world. Actually recommending your business to people who have the exact problem you can fix. It's like you're the perfect fit. Except for one problem... you might never actually be seen. But that's what we're here to fix.
ChatGPT pulls from real sources like Yelp and Bing and your website. It tries to understand what you do, where you are, and who you help. If your site is clear and structured and it makes sense, then you're in the mix. But if it's vague and cluttered or confusing, then you don't exist.
Most business websites weren't built for this. They were built for humans to click around or to game Google's algorithm. ChatGPT doesn't care about your backlinks or your SEO tricks.
It just wants to understand you. And if it can't, you're invisible.
MICHELLE, OWNER OF FREE YOUR SPACE PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZING:
So I started getting more calls and they were different than before because they were referring to me by name, which meant they had already been to the website.
Hi, I'm Michelle Garb. I'm the owner and lead organizer for Free Your Space Professional Organizing. And when I looked at the logs, it showed that most of these referrals came from ChatGPT and not Google. My website traffic had like tripled.
KEVIN:
But there's another problem. Even if you do get recommended, these people aren't browsing. They're deciding. They're coming to your site, trying to figure out if you're a good fit. They already trust ChatGPT's recommendation. They're coming to you to convince them that you're the one.
And one of the biggest changes you can make to your site. The one that'll get visitors actually engaged with you and your business is video. But not just any video.
Cell phone videos and Instagram posts don't cut it anymore. Not on your website. These videos have to look great. Cinematic. Evoke emotion. Get people to feel something about you and your business.
MICHELLE:
My business really revolves around compassion and caring. So the perfect thing to do was to show somebody that was no longer afraid of being judged.
[SCENE: Michelle and her client Aloni are in Aloni's apartment talking about organizing]
MICHELLE:
And it's really come together. And you've always had a sense of style.
ALONI:
But I think too often I gather...
MICHELLE:
Yeah. But you can see it now because there's nothing...
ALONI:
Yeah.
MICHELLE:
In the way.
ALONI:
Yeah. So the clutter is gone. I let go. It really... it's beautiful.
MICHELLE:
And if you get these clothes into the closet, yes, then you'll have all that space up there.
ALONI (on camera):
There was a big sense of relief when I finally talked to Michelle, because I realized that I was getting help, and I realized that she was actually helpful and she wasn't judgmental. So being vulnerable is, like, the hardest thing.
MICHELLE (on camera):
A lot of clients tell me that part of the reason that they're calling me is because they saw in the videos someone that had at one point been afraid to be judged, and they saw how we didn't judge them and how comfortable she felt working with us, and that they knew, in their hearts already, that they would be comfortable working with me too.
[SCENE: Aloni and Michelle continue to talk in Aloni's apartment]
ALONI:
Michelle? Life is good. It is good.
MICHELLE:
And you deserve it.
ALONI:
Thank you. I appreciate you. Seriously.
MICHELLE (on camera):
That's not something you get from text on a website. Having a video is just such an added element to making it unique and dynamic.
KEVIN:
I've been telling stories in broadcast TV for over 30 years. And I'm telling you, this is one of the most exciting shifts that I've ever seen in how to get potential customers to connect with your business.
So that's what we do: set you up to get found by ChatGPT, and then help you close with great videos that tell your story.
MICHELLE:
It's changed the way we do things. It's changed the way people find us. And it's definitely changed the calls that I'm getting. It's just so much better.
